G.I. Library breaks ground on renovation project

The Grand Island Public Library rang in a new era Tuesday afternoon by breaking ground for its renovation project. Mayor Jeremy Jensen, City Administrator Marlan Ferguson, library director Steve Fosselman, library board president Ed Meedel and library staff helped break ground near the front of the library during a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday. Jensen broke ground with a shovel used by President Teddy Roosevelt in 1903 for the groundbreaking of the Carnegie Library.
